Breath coaching as part of a medical package

Medical science is increasingly confirming both the health risks of disrupted breathing and the benefits of retraining the breath using evidence-based practices.

A package of just two or three sessions often leads to breakthroughs for clients with problems such as burnout, depression, stress related pain, and breath-related sleep issues.

For some clients, breath coaching alone is enough to restore good health and wellbeing. For others, it becomes part of a blended approach that might include psychological counselling, lifestyle changes, or other therapeutic support.

RATES AND PACKAGES

Hourly rate of €115 - €125 (ex VAT) for one-on-one sessions and consultations.

Breathwork is not one-size fits all

Very broadly, there are two categories of breathwork: primarily nasal diaphragmatic breathing for everyday calmness and health and connected breathing (a form of sustained hyperventilation) for emotional connection and release. They are both highly effective in different ways and I use both in my practice.  Depending on the needs and wishes of the client I sometimes combine these two approaches.

Breathing exercises and health benefits

-Some exercises slow the heart rate or lower blood pressure.

-Others trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, fostering calmness of mind and supporting the digestion.

-Practising full 360-degree breathing enhances breathing mechanics, supports core stability, and encourages better posture.

- Minimal breathing combats chronic overbreathing and hypocapnia, improving tolerance to healthy CO₂ levels and supporting more efficient breathing with fewer exercise-induced asthma symptoms.

-Even a single session of connected/hyperventilation-style breathing can reduce negative mood states (anger, tension, confusion, depression) and improve overall emotional state.

- Promoting nasal breathing is an important supportive strategy in reducing snoring and improving sleep quality, and it can aid in managing sleep apnoea alongside medical care.

-connected breathing temporarily reduces activity in the default mode network, allowing for emotional release and processing

Tailored breath coaching

My starting point is always the client’s needs and goals. But my approach is also guided by what I see in the client: the type of exercises I prioritise depends on their physical health, their connection with their own body, and their mental state.

Our initial conversations also often highlight health, lifestyle, or background factors that help further shape and personalise the approach we take together.

Depending on the client’s health needs, we can focus on exercises that improve sleep (snoring, apnoea), high blood pressure, restricted breathing, anxiety and panic attacks, and trauma.
